Olson Center is located along the University Esplanade, a prominent pedestrian artery on the campus of Kent State University.  This location will allow students easy access to the services provided by Undergraduate Studies that include student-focused tutoring and an exploratory advising center.

This renovation and addition consolidates several key student support service functions as well as the Office of the Dean into one facility in a single space providing students with a more streamlined process and staff with a space that better supports their workflow.

Performing the role of Educational Planning Consultant, AMA identified strategies for organization that utilized shared functions and maximized efficiency.  The result is a project that mixes private office, open office and collaborative space to create a dynamic work environment.

AMA was also responsible for setting the design direction which takes advantage of an existing core by making it an attractive focal point that also assists with way finding.  Linear Walnut planks on the walls and ceiling set the tone for a refined aesthetic that is referenced at department entries creating a cohesive design for the building.  AMA will be selected and specified the furniture for the project which has a budget of $460,000.
