The Rike Hall Coffee Bar was designed and built as an addition to the Raj Soin College of Business housed in Rike Hall. The result of collaboration between the College of Business, Reynolds & Reynolds, and other partners, the coffee bar is managed and staffed by business students. AMA worked with the various partners to generate how different partners’ identities were expressed, including the brand of the College of Business and the donor.

The coffee bar addition projects from the existing brutalist mass of Rike Hall, allowing for visibility from one of the main pedestrian entries to the campus core. The structure is steel frame & lightweight metal stud walls, creating a counterpoint to the massively-rendered existing building. Metal panels and ample areas of storefront clad the structure. The amount of glass allows for views into the coffee bar, which acts as a marketing tool.

Exterior seating is provided in a plaza that connects the coffee bar back to the front door of Rike Hall. Interior & exterior furnishings were specified by AMA throughout. The interior seating adds additional seating to the student lounge space, while the exterior seating provides a space unlike anything the College of Business had before.
